2006?

- and exactly where did that come from? Half a page down it was Nov. 05, and suddenly Christmas as well as New Year have passed by. Strange! I've been on a mental standby for a good while, but am back in business at close to top speed. This blog will remain on standby though, for another few weeks, while I fix important issues IRL. I shall then return with fresh Christmas knitting!! Until then, I will leave you with an outline of the home-made-christmas-presents-2005-disaster
Summary of planned Christmas 2005 gift knitting (& one felted):
1 gift complete
2 gifts half done, wrapped with needles and taken back home for completion
2 gifts presented as home-made vouchers for intended project, neither of which are initiated
1 gift presented orally as lame mumble about not quite ready. This so, while receiving lovely home-made knitted set of gloves and scarf from future recipient.
2 gifts cancelled
I really hope I've learned enough to cut down ambitions for the end of this year :-)

Half Mittens
I recently joined the Pulsvarmer (half-mittens) knitalong and I know two little girls who'll be needing Christmas presents. For one of them I've planned a pair of socks, but got a bit carried away ordering the yarn. I think I should be able to squeeze a pair socks size 2 years old, as well as some half-mittens for her and the 7 year old sister out of this:

Hourglass Done
Has been done for some days now, and used out. I'm pretty pleased with the result both colours, shape and fit. I was aiming for a relatively open neckline, and maybe it ended up too open, but lets see... so far I'm happy :-)
Info:
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden, colour 213 (9½ skeins, i.e. ca. 500 g)
Needles: 4.5 mm
Pattern: 'Hourglass sweater' from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts

Last rounds
Today the supplies arrived for completion of the last upper rounds of the hourglass sweater from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts. The shaping looks a bit funny in the photo, but the circular needle pulls the upper part together and once this is removed, and the edges have been folded I'm positive it'll be much better. And positive I generally am about this item, and can't wait to see it finished.

Round and round
First ever raglan attempt is underway, using Noro Silk Garden (col 213). I bought the yarn a good while ago and have finally determined its fate.
After a more than adequately sized swatch, all looks promising, except I'll be needing another three skeins!. I can't wait to get the sleeves done and put the lot together

I'm a Sock!

You would have been a pair of ankle socks in any
colour, maybe with a little picture or some
stripes or something to add a little variation.
What type of sock are you?

Not really a post, I know, but that's all I can manage these days. Am aware of picture-probs below, but no mental room to fix. It does look like November will be a month of knitting and general life-enjoyment, though. Only 9 more days now... :-)
