C.U.C. - Cardigan under Construction

Thank you for all the comments to my shawl-productions, so nice to hear from readers ;-) And I agree with
Marie-Louise, that the 'Femina-shawl' is a very nice and motivating knit.

I used to be a bit intimidated by sweater-patterns and hence stayed mainly with shawls and socks. This intimidation seems to have evaporated though, maybe around the time I got Ann Budds sweater book? Some days ago, I found my self entering a yarn shop, getting 'Newzealandsk Lammeuld' (New Zealand lambs wool) of the shelf, asking the lady how much she'd estimate for a cardigan, and getting the answered 500 g. And here I am, simply knitting away without a specific target in mind (though have envisioned a straight forward plain, but much need, cardigan ). As I haven't decided the front details yet, I started with the cardigan-back and a sleeve will be initiated tonight. All made on my mothers old metal 4.5 mm straight needles. I feel all nostalgic using them, being used to circulars.

Knitted Items!

Flora from Knitty turned into an autumn-flower, a quick knit which I'm quite pleased with. I really like the flower, its a nice size and shape, but the best bit is the stamens of the flower. It took me a moment to work out how they were made, and they sure add time to the flower construction, but lovely they are :-)

I have used double stranded Fortissima Colori from Shchoeller and Stahl, color 2425, and 5 mm needle. I could so do another one of these, and then perhaps in a happier colour :-)

medium_tværstrik.2.jpgAnother shawl is done. The pattern was found in the Danish magazine Femina a while ago. I fell in love immediately and will most likely be spending a considerable part of my autumn and winter wrapped in this thing. It has a perfect fit, it keeps my back warm and the 'sides' are long enough to reach around the body to be tied at the back, hence no loose ends to dip into food etc.

My version is done in Drops Alpaca (colour 7139) double stranded, on 6 mm needle (I think!)

FloraAlong

Over to the left, a pretty new button has appeared made by Bettina for a Flora knitalong.

As it happens, when one REALLY is supposed to do other things (such as write frantically on a thesis), knitting projects can get even more distracting than normal. Last night, after many hours of computer-company all I could think of was couch+knitting - something small and easy, and Flora pattern + nearest yarn were grabbed. And as it surely is a relatively quick nit... I'm done! Will take photo tomorrow during daylight.

Will leave the button though, who knows if I'll do another :-)

Should someone come this way to find still nothing new, why not go over here instead:

A new issue of Magknits :-)

Waves done

some frantic finishing later:  the wavy summer-top is on the 'done-list'.

Its come out ok-ish, but the least bit of scrutiny reveals funny stitches and non-perfectly woven in ends.

Enough cotton for a while, I want my next project to be stockinette stitch, knitted in the round, in wool... sounds like a sock, or perhaps something for felting. I need a success.

First, though, I might finish another project: a crochet bag made with plastic-string, the kind you'd use for washing line. Photo in future post, as now I need to get my self organized for going to a wedding tomorrow.

The best I have

It is really meagre knitting times around here..

To show I'm still around, the best I could come up with is a few revelations of the inner Miss Janet :-)

Knitting Guru

You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting
and do it all the time. While finishing a piece
is the plan, you still love the process, and
can't imagine a day going by without giving
some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation
involves leaving ample space for the stash and
supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn
ends and you begin.

As for the waves in the previous post, I've done all the colour bits, but still need to do straps, deal with ends... I have been meaning for my next post to be a finished top, but couldn't wait any longer.

Summer Waves

All ready back again!!  :-))  Pleased to see from the comments that I do have the occasional reader despite my long periods of silence.

Crawling in the area under the bed and the back of my drawers revealed some yarn for a wavy summer top I bought a while ago, and have hardly touched since. I am using the original yarn, Safran from Garnstudio. The pattern in it self is not difficult, but attempting to handle 6 colours at once is - and so is trying to knit a pattern with mistakes in it....ARGHHHHHHHH. I bought the booklet with the pattern last year, and yesterday I spend several hours in its company on a bus + ferry trying to work out how the decreases above the armhole shapings should be made -having to wait forever to come home to have my suspicions confirmed from the online version. So far, I've got the front and cast on for the back. The colours are slightly brighter IRL.
